Handing over logs
At the end of a stage, each control's log goes to whoever is collecting it: a sweep car, the finish or HQ. Handing over copies the log, so the control keeps everything it had.
On the collecting device
Open the menu, tap Collect logs, and turn on Collect logs from controls. The device announces itself on the network. What it collects stays on the device, including after the app restarts, and turning collecting off doesn't erase it.
On each control's device
- Join the collecting device's Wi-Fi or hotspot. If the sweep car carries a travel router the phone has joined before, it rejoins by itself as the car arrives.
- Open the log: the list button beside Void last. A bar at the top says who is collecting, for example "Rally HQ is collecting logs".
- Tap Hand over. The reply says what arrived, for example "Rally HQ has 15 records from you (12 new, 3 changed). Your copy is untouched."
Worth knowing
- Hand over as often as you like. Records already delivered aren't duplicated. A record corrected since, voided or given a car number, arrives as changed, and the collector keeps the newest version.
- Collectors chain. When a collecting device hands over, it passes on everything it holds, not just its own log, so a sweep car can hand its whole collection to HQ.
- See what's missing. On the collecting device, the Review screen (Collect logs, then the checklist icon) shows which controls are short, and by which cars.
- Moving on to another stage? After a hand-over, the control is offered the next stage: SS4 becomes SS5, and can be edited. Change it before the first car of the next stage, so its times aren't filed under the last one. Times already logged keep the stage they were taken at.
- A log carries the contact name and phone entered in Setup, if any.
No collector nearby?
On the log, tap Send to send it another way, such as email or a message, or on a computer, Save it to a file. It goes as a spreadsheet (CSV) or a data file (JSONL). Sending or saving doesn't erase anything: your copy stays on the device.
